Eegie the Earthworm is the story of a little earthworm named Eegie who lives in a beautiful garden with Mama Earthworm. She loves being on the surface of the garden and enjoys the fluttering butterflies, chirping birds and sweet-smelling flowers.
She does not like being an earthworm living in the soil. She yearns to be a butterfly
or a bird
or a flower …
Can she ever be happy?
Is there hope for Eegie???
This is a heart-warming and charming story – a story about identity, value, purpose, and relationships. A 32-page picture book for 4 to 8 year olds, it has notes to parents and teachers with suggestions for follow-up activities and notes on science. Eegie the Earthworm was first published in September, 2015 with an enhanced 2nd print released in January, 2017.
Reviews:
I love the concept of this book. What a wonderful depiction of the role of identity concerns. This beautifully illustrated book strikes a chord in every reader, young and old, helping each to identify inner strength towards pride and confidence. I found it wonderful how Lovelle tied in notes from Professor Josef Gorres which relates more to the scientific background of earthworms and their importance to nature. The parent/teacher letter is also a wonderful tool to engage the reader and further the discussion about the topic/concept at hand. With a fluid movement from the importance of nature to the noteworthy motif of self-acceptance, the important motive lies in the overall idea that all in this world are blessed with importance; even a blooming garden worm. – Julia O’Bryant
The beautiful, colorful pictures of a habitat full of sunflowers, Echinacea and roses are a perfect accompaniment for Eegie’s story about finding her place in the garden. – Prof Josef Gorres
Eegie the Earthworm is a beautifully illustrated book that helps a young child see that each one of us is unique and that God has a special purpose for each of us. – Dr Melvin W. Hanna
This book nurtures to give value to the small and adds to the understanding that it also has a special place in the “big picture”. The wonderful illustrations are full of details to discover and will create great story times! – Thomas Grunder
